Substrata is considered one of the best albums of ambient to have occurred in the history of music. Biosphere, the name under which the Norwegian Geir Jenssen appears in his productions, managed to develop a natural sound mixed with fantasies of Nordic imagery (which is very different from the mythology, of course) and mixed with textures of sound that are heard only in the extreme northern region of the planet.
Brian Eno called Biosphere's music as "the discovery of a new universe of which all want to be part." And you're right. Substrata especially has the gift of making the listener is moved to other places and learn through auditory experience some aspects of the planet for some may prove to be unknown.
