Today Belarus celebrates Day of the October Revolution.
On the night of 7 to 8 November, in Petrograd, there was the uprising of the Russian proletariat. The interim government was shot down and proclaimed the power of the Soviets.
For over 70 years in the Soviet Union that day, was the most important state holiday. Belarus is one of the few former Soviet republics that has preserved this tradition. Today in the Plaza of Independence took place the solemn wreath at the monument to Lenin.

More than 70 years in the Soviet Union this day was mostly a public holiday. Our country - one of the few former Soviet republics - has kept this tradition. Today's Independence Square was officially laying flowers at the monument to Lenin. The action was attended by members of the Communist Party of Belarus, veterans, representatives of youth organizations.
