"Perception is reality" Alejandro Encinas Rodríguez

THE UNIVERSAL

In November last year, I had a meeting with one of the closest business to Mr. Felipe Calderon. In it, beyond matters related to their activity in the Federal District, I berated the actions taken by Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the coalition For the Good of All, after the elections of July 2, in particular, the installation of the encampment in the Paseo de la Reforma.

With this decision, he noted, López Obrador wronged and took the city a radical, who not only would drop their preferences, but alienate the different social sectors in which it had cultivated sympathies and identify internal divisions in his party, more discredited and marginalized. Hence it was easy to portray him as an uncompromising politician, acting outside the framework of law and institutions, does not assume the results of a legal process that is conducted on a whim. Rounded

his criticism in one sentence: "perception is reality", and climb up that image will be very difficult.

this investor's view was not, but the advance of a communication strategy whose purpose beyond creating an information blockade around López Obrador and the Democratic National Convention, is to virtually eliminate the political imagination of the media field any manifestation of opposition polo clearer in the country.

This is not a novel practice. Since the times of the PRI have been numerous campaigns that seek to discredit the opponent. Just remember the smear campaign they suffered in 1968 the Mexican students who were associated with an international plot, or those that emerged in 1988 against members of the Democratic Current of the PRI, after his break with the ruling party; or engineer the coup against Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, after the execution of Stanley and conductor Francisco recently, the dirty war in the electoral process had to Lopez Obrador "a danger to Mexico."

However, the political landscape of our country is different from previous years and the balance that has left the electoral process far exceeds the political-partisan confrontation, creating a deep social polarization that nested like never before more negative feelings of our society: discrimination, social and racial contempt, which has realized a segmented and unequal society.

What the country facing today, more than a post-electoral conflict is a confrontation of classes and this can not be overcome by effective media management. Heal the wounds resulting from this confrontation is not easy and assume that the exclusion or disregard for the opponent is going to solve it merely reflects political myopia.

The strategy has been implemented on time, the activities of Lopez Obrador and the Democratic National Convention have been, with few exceptions, removed from the media, especially television news reports of duopoly, in which according to monitoring various notes recorded negative impact, which for example, any internal debate, whether the definition of an application or evaluation of the electoral process, it registers as a sign of division and loss of leadership. However

presents a phenomenon, the decline was not as severe as expected and instead there is a loss of credibility of the information media and even a sector of the population has chosen to move away from television news migrating to other media.

At the time, the underlying problem, the social polarization, the bitterness of class, unequal society, is there, and no media campaign can hide, so required, rather than effective speech or threats of hardening, it is understood that a basic condition for good governance of this country is making a real transformation of national institutions show signs of exhaustion and recognize the political weight of the left overcome this crisis.
